Session 7: Technology Incubation and Clean Tech Investments

As part of the Global CONNECT team, Nathan oversees projects that help clients gain a better understanding of their regional innovation system’s assets and capabilities. Past work includes an assessment of knowledge transfer mechanisms that enable the commercialization of new technologies in the Canadian province of British Columbia, and the co-authoring of a report that examined several science and technology-based industries on both sides of the San Diego-Baja California border. Nathan is currently managing a project that benchmarks the San Diego region’s clean technology industry against several other leading regions in the US to assist the City of San Diego develop an appropriate economic development strategy.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Extension, Nathan worked as a research analyst for a Washington, DC consulting firm where he assisted Japan-based clients on issues related to US science and technology policy as well as market trends in the information technology and telecommunications industries.
Nathan holds a Master’s degree in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor’s degree in political science from UC San Diego.
